For a Big man "Big Andy" really gets around. No distance or sacrifice is too great in his pursuit of the perfect pigeons, for his clients throughout North America. While most racing pigeon fanciers enjoyed the Christmas season "Big Andy" made it a point of attending the absolute sale of the Century. No public auction of racing pigeons anywhere in the world has ever brought prices close to the fantastic prices generated in the "Erik Limbourg" sale in Belgium during the two glorious days of December 5th and 6th 2009.This sale is the stuff of Legends and "Big Andy" was there in person and not just as a spectator but as a man on a mission dedicated to bringing home to North America part of the "Legend".

If there is one thing that we can agree on... it is the fact that in Thorn on the 5th and 6th of December, the doors to the biggest ‘treasure chamber’ at the moment of ‘class pigeons’, of ‘top talent’... will be thrown wide open, with the sale of ‘all’ the old birds (all the pigeons from 2008 and older) of the ‘Ace Pigeon Loft’ of Erik Limbourg. Rarely or never before has such a luxury of 1° Prize winners, ‘Ace pigeons’ up to ‘national level’, and a never before seen collection of breeding talent, say.... The ‘deliverers’ of... come under the auctioneer’s hammer in one and the same auction. Pigeons that are approaching perfection, that breed well with ‘good’... in short, the ‘prototype’ of the modern ‘all round pigeon’, that know how to dominate from sprint to the grand long distance... and that have shown great mastership over the last few seasons, so that we can safely say that they have grown to become the ‘absolute top’ of our country at the moment... to the ‘Nr 1’ from Belgium...

In his search for exceptional natural talent Erik Limbourg also came across the incomparable breeding line of stock pigeon ‘The Stijven’ by Guido Van Caneghem from Merelbeke. A miraculous stock beer that is a 100% Jozef De Lodder from Zultes... you know, the man that also stood at the cradle of the top success by Gaby Vandenabeele because the father (the ‘Zitterke’) of the world famous stock father in Dentergem, the ‘KLEINEN’... was a direct Jozef De Lodder! The descendants of this ‘Stijven’ signed for more than 100 x 1° Prizes... and the counter keeps rising to new heights year after year! Coupled with a hen out het lines Van Avondt x Gommaire Verbruggen, this ‘Stijven’ was father of a super breeding talent in the lofts of Erik Limbourg: the super breeder ‘GUIDO’... who in turn is also grandfather of multiple 1° Prize winners. The ‘GUIDO’ self is also brother to that other top talent by Guido Van Caneghem, namely the ‘Tommy’... good for 9 x 1° Prizes and 16 ‘top-10’ notations!
The ‘Guido’ took excellently in coupling with a daughter (the ‘Blue 018’) of the basis couple ‘Swing Willy’ x‘Tam Witkopje Aelbrecht’... you know, the winning hen 1° Nat La Souterraine 9.583 p. in ’97, who is also mother of ‘Father Golden Pair 186/00’ Limbourg! The apple didn’t fall far from the tree...
The ‘Guido’ x ‘Blue 018’ formed the basis of a new top line, and are parents of the:

In short, a powerful breeding line from which an uncountable number of superior 1° Prize racers have been bred... a breeding line which was used in Brussegem to introduce and retain the necessary ‘speed’ in the long distance lines... and by this to lie at the basis of the ‘creation’ of the ‘all round’ character of the Limbourg pigeons! Winning top from sprint to the 900 Km long distance races!
